Nääs Castle

The wedding took place at Nääs Castle 2010-07-24 4.30 pm.

Nääs Castle is a beautiful place outside Göteborg with history since 1600. 

Nääs became world renowned through its Crafts College and for more than fifty years was regarded as “Sweden’s window to the world”. Nääs’ history stretches back to 1529 when, according to the title deeds, its first owner Joen Småswen bought the land and began constructing a large manor on the promontory in Lake Sävelången.

We know relatively little about Nääs’ appearance from the middle ages up until the middle of the 1800s. Nääs has changed constantly depending on the ideas of its owners and the fashions and trends of the time.

Nääs Castle and the Crafts College is made up of 17 buildings, most of which are open to the public. The whole area is a protected historic site and an important part of Sweden’s cultural heritage.

Nääs is cared for according to the last will and testament of August Abrahamson by a foundation managed by the state. In total, Nääs has 1500 hectares of forest and farmland and nearly 70 estate and college buildings.
